"版" is used to measure sapce of a page in newspapers, books, records and disks etc.
头版头条消息 - tóuban3 tóutaió xiāoxi - at the top of the front page news
头版新闻 - tóuban3 xīnwén - Headline News
"版" - used as a verb:
出了一版 - chūle yì ban3 - published one edition
印了三版 - yìnle sān ban3 - printed 3 editions

In your examples of 版 used as a verb, the verbs are actually 出 (published) and 印 (printed). Actually you said so yourself and I don't understand why you think 版 is used as a verb there. It is a noun meaning edition.

Thanks for pointing my mistake out. You are right that 出 (published) and 印 (printed)are the verbs of the sentence, I should have titled the section "版" - when used in conjunction with a verb. I'll try to do better.
