Google is not a verb! // Google Goes to China
So, how many times have you not known about something and said "I'd better go home and google it?" Google is no longer just a company, they have become an entry in the dictionary.
Google - verb. to search for information on the internet.
Well, Google doesn't want Google to be a verb.
I guess google is arguing that if the word becomes a verb, it isn't connected to the company and is in violation of some intellectual property blah blah blah. I'm a big fan of Google, but there is no way they are going to stop it from becoming a verb. Maybe they should worry about something else.
In other Google news....
China.com just announced that it's partnering with Google on search engine technology, branding and advertising. China.com has about 30 million registered users, and provides gaming and other internet services.
It is speculated that given Google's emphasis on the mobile marketplace, their partnership with China.com could be a foot in the doorway of the Chinese mobile phone market..
This is not the first time Google has gone to China, their willingness to censor search results has drawn vast critisism from human rights advocates. But who can blame them, they are only keeping the laws of the land right? I mean, a business cannot go into a country and think they are exempt from the law right? So whats the big deal?
